Speakers at the rally expressed support for raising the minimum wage from the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour to $17.00 an hour.
Tennessee is just one of five states that currently does not have a state minimum wage, relying on the federal rate of $7.25 an hour which has remained unchanged since 2009.
